Jana has been actively involved in financial regulation since 2000. Initially she was the head of the legal and compliance department at the Slovak subsidiary of a global bank, and since 2008 she has done the same work as an attorney.
She provides legal services to banks; securities traders; collective investment management companies; payment, e-money, and cash handling companies; transport companies; and support service providers for financial institutions.
She has participated in the licensing procedures of subsidiaries of foreign banks, foreign securities traders, and foreign collective investment management companies. She has collaborated on the drafting of prospectuses for various collective investment funds. She has processed various queries and opinions related to the interpretation of European and Slovak financial regulation rules, and she has advised financial institutions on the implementation of new regulatory obligations.
She has prepared loan and security documents for high-volume syndicated, club, and bilateral transactions; she has drafted legal opinions confirming borrowing capacity and document enforceability; and she has assessed the legal background and legal risks in various project fundings.
She drafts and localizes standard contracts and general terms and conditions. She also prepares tailor-made contracts and summaries of obligations in relation to regulators (e.g. the National Bank of Slovakia, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Office for Personal Data Protection). She prepares internal procedures in compliance with regulators’ rules and guidelines, and she represents foreign asset management companies in procedures for the authorization of the distribution of equity participations.

She has successfully concluded disputes for non-pecuniary damages, and she has been part of the litigation team in representing the state in dozens of disputes brought by entities claiming their alleged shareholder rights. She has drafted statements and evidentiary motions in disputes for damages amounting to several million to one hundred million euros.

and she has assisted public universities with litigation, labour matters, and tenancies.
She has provided legal advice on public procurement to contracting authorities, and she has assisted with drafting the legal language of tender documents. She has participated in the processing of responses to requests for the clarification of tender documents and requests for remedy, and she has processed statements in proceedings before the Office for Public Procurement and the Council of the Office for Public Procurement. She has participated in preparing complaints against decisions made by the Public Procurement Office and the Council of the Public Procurement Office. She has prepared statements in proceedings against actions brought by the Public Procurement Office against contracting authorities. As a member of tender evaluation committees, she has been responsible for observing the legal requirements of the bid opening procedures; she has assessed the bids’ adequacy, including in proceedings following bid evaluations in the case of any complaints by unsuccessful bidders.
